Partner program KPIs: measure the system, not just revenue

Revenue is the outcome, but it is a lagging indicator. A useful partner-program scorecard shows whether the system is recruiting the right partners, activating them, creating pipeline and operating efficiently.

Recruitment metrics

Track applications or sourced prospects, approval rate and recruitment source. A high application count can be meaningless if the partners do not fit the program.

Activation metrics

Measure time to first meaningful action and active-partner rate. Define 'active' separately for affiliates, referral partners and resellers.

Pipeline and revenue metrics

Track partner-sourced leads or deals, qualified pipeline, wins, revenue and the share of results produced by top partners. Separate sourced and influenced revenue.

Partner productivity

Measure revenue or pipeline per active partner, repeat activity, conversion rate and partner retention. These reveal whether growth comes from more partners or better partners.

Operational metrics

Track payout accuracy, time spent on commission administration, support volume and time from program acceptance to activation. These are especially useful when evaluating automation software.
